The Art of Winning Your Day

As you lie in a meadow filled with the vivid colors of all that you dream of achieving, you look up, and can already see the vultures of procrastination circling above you. You see it's dark, encompassing eyes. You see its stiff unwavering smile. The vermin descend slowly, as first. It lulls you into its methodical patterns. Then, as you are subdued by its systematic scheme, it violently spirals down to your figure, claiming you with its stiff talons. You encounter a feeling like no other. A feeling not privy to hope, nor to optimism. You have felt it before, yet somehow it is still foreign, still petrifying in its cold, dark touch. How was it that we arrived at this miserable station? At which point did it all go wrong? You always begin your day with such optimism as to what you are going to achieve. There is ambition to seize your goals, and confidence that today will be the day that you will do it. Yet, as the day drags on, the once profound ambition to achieve your goals diminishes. It frustrates you! How is it that this can happen everyday? And not even halfway between lunch and dinner, you have extended your wrists to the cold shackles of defeat. As you linger from the front door to your bedroom, you accept a ruling that the rest of your day is consumed by Netflix to make up for how bad the previous hours were. Sound familiar? Untold numbers of people subside to a similar sequel. However you are the author of your story, and you must decide that this chapter will be the one in which you at last attack your goals. Stop waiting around for divine intervention: take matters into your own hand. You are an amazing person. And, since you are an amazing person, you also have it in you to do amazing things. Do not allow anxiety to define your momentum. Move from your bed with certainty and conviction, not with gravity. Carry yourself as a spartan does before battle, silently prepared for the coming war. Grasp your spear, grit your teeth, and win the day.
